COLOURS ARE SO IMPORTANT, YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like honest to god, you could have the best fucking drawing style ever but your colouring is a piece of shit, and so when you colour, you art is gonna pretty goddamn shitty; but if you have gorgeous or even just a decent colouring style but your drawings are pretty shit, they’re still gonna really nice(/okay) because of the said awesome colouring, because how often do people actually look at the drawing first?????? Most people look at the colouring first and go wow, then they look at the actual drawing and see how good that is, and may or may not be in awe at that, too.
But fuck yes, I love drawing with colours instead of lines because I’m free to start it however I want, and if I mess up on anything, I can just easily fix it with no fucks given of messing something else up—plus I get a feel of what type of colours I need/want and what my lighting is gonna like (and how).
But for tips, hmmmmmmmm!!! Try not to use dull colours!!! Like let’s say your colouring blond hair; don’t just pick a gross yellow and then make it (i.e. the base colour) darker for shading! That is really boring. Fuck, I’m trying to find an old drawing where I actually used layers to show you. Fuck me and only use like three max. :I
Fuck, okay, this picture’s colouring is all on the same layer, but it’s something. :I
So okay:

boring yellow (for this situation)

gross shading, and original colour next the shaded colour for visual of what I meant of not making the base colour just slightly darker to shade. :T Buuuuuuuuuut, you can make the pretty generic yellow ton better if you make the shading better.

yeah okay, slightly better, but that lineart is killing it. This is one of those times where you should really, really colour the lineart or else your drawing could still look pretty gross.

yeah see, even the skin is look less shittier. I always put my lineart (if I have any) on multiply then colour it.
okay now I’m really lazy, just dang don’t pick colours that are really near each other, and all colours aren’t really what they’re suppose to be
Like,

Dave’s hair colour are (mainly) greens and browns, and the lightest part of his skin and hair are the same light green; his tux are more in the oranges, pinks, and the dark parts are in the purples; and all black are dark teals and navy.
Just….. get out of the boring colours box!!!! Just because something is red doesn’t mean you have to pick only within the strictly-red area!!!!! Do something more near oranges or pinks!!!! Make it lighter or darker than what it’s showed!!! Use more than one colour to shade and maybe blend them a bit to get a new colour AND GAH, JUST EXPERIMENT OKAY!!!!!!!!
One awesome tip I learned recently was to look at a colours you like and try to find it yourself on the colour wheel! I personally don’t use the wheel—I prefer the bars, but just try to find it!!! Remember that colours can often look very different when surrounded by other colours!!! So maybe try to find those, too, then you’ll start getting a nack for finding what you’re wanting/picturing!!!! And don’t be afraid to adjust the hue, saturation, etc. to find a better colour! Or to overlay colours, whether on the whole thing or just certain parts!!! Just dang, man, experiment and work with what you choose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LMAO, OKAY… LET ME TELL YOU A STORY OF ME GOOGLING SHIT. TRYING TO FIND CHEAP QUALITY PRINTING PLACES: THE MOIVE. I literally just googled something like “good places to print pictures at” and yahoo answers came up, and people said Wal-mart was 0kay, and I was like ‘is Walgreen’s 0kay??? Because there’s one right there sort of by me’. And so I printed my friend’s birthday present on a huge ass poster, and it was okay, but kind of blurry since I drew it a bit too small apparently?? So but it was still okay, and I just tried printing there again for the giveaway, and they were okay too. Okay. And I get dealie thingies that makes the price of printing cheaper!!! So that helps my poor ass out, and idk, I thinking of trying Wal-mart because why the fuck not—gotta know what my are options are like, you know??
tl;dr Walgreen’s, going to try Wal-mart too later.
OKAY, LAST MESSAGE BEFORE I FINALLY GO TO SLEEP.
But it’s totally cool, man!!! I see a lot of people using my art as their icon (which is still mega embarrassing for me u////////u), and I don’t think they credit?? Which I don’t care for because it’s just an icon?? So you can do that same, if you’d like. uvu
Also I see that that one has a bit of the words in the icon sooooo:

another version too???

this is the one I use on trillian/msn. :Ub
WOW, OKAY ANON, THIS IS WHAT I HAVE FOR YOU…………

BUT I’VE GIVEN UP ON THIS PICTURE BECAUSE WOW I AM FAR TOO LATE FOR AN UPD8 PICTURE AND I AM LAZY AND FUCK I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE I AM GOING WITH IT ANYWAY SO?????????????????????????????????????????????
YEAH, SO SORRY, I GUESS. I’LL TRY TO SHOW YOU A REAL DRAWING PROCESS ALL THE WAY TO THE END SOMETIME??????
FUCK, I FORGOT TO ANSWER THIS 5EVER AGO…………… BUT THANK YOU!!!!!! Q////////////U///////////Q
As for tips!!!!!!! I think it really depends on what kind of style you have, but a big, big one since most artists tend to use lineart is colouring your lineart??? Because if you just keep it black/one colour, it’s probably gonna look very flattering??? (But I guess it really depends what style you have here….. there are some that can keep it black/one colour and look gr8.)
If you still don’t get what I mean then (excuse the really shitty drawing):

solid black lineart shit thing

lock your lineart layer so you’re colour ONLY the lineart

looks a lot nicer doesn’t it??? hmmm, but some parts are a bit hard to see, don’t you think? (p.s. I use the water colouring tool for this)
Let’s just set…. the layer on multiply….

Ah, there we go! Much better. Colouring lineart really helps with glowy parts or you just wanting to make your art brighter! Idk, I just think it’s very nice???
Ummmm, another tip is learning how to pick colours!! Really learn that!!! Like you could have the shittiest drawings and colouring style, but your colour choices are really fucking great that it would end up looking more than pretty okay!! I-I kind of want to give some examples, but that would be pretty rude to the artists?? u______u;;; Just really study colours and other artists’ colour choices, and try to find them yourself on the colour wheel—you’d be really surprised to learn where some colours really are!!!
I just find colouring a very big and most important thing in digital art. There’s a lot of fantastic artists out there who draw the best things, but it totally gets killed a bit by their colouring??? And artists who aren’t exactly the best at drawing quite yet!!!! But they know how to colour, so wow that picture looks pretty really great because of that awesome paint job!!!
